Description:Viken Detection is currently seeking a driven and determined Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing, dynamic team; developing x-ray and chemical drug interdiction technologies for police and border protection agents. Viken's novel devices help catch drug smugglers in the act and stop the flow of illegal substances, weapons, and explosives, saving lives.In this role, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will focus on all aspects of product development, ranging from intricate handheld devices to large structures for vehicle and cargo scanning, plastics design, structural metal design, rotating mechanisms, and finite element analysis.Responsibilities

• Work with the Engineering, Research and Development, and Program Management teams to refine the mechanical system, and subsystem components.
• Participate in fast-paced rapid prototyping proof-of-concepts.
• Responsible for working cross-functionally to produce bills of materials, drawings, and test fixtures to transfer products to production.
• Work with operations on New Product Introduction efforts through support that includes building and training production team members on prototypes.
• Responsible for updating designs based on production and field user feedback to sustain engineering functions.Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in the field.
  • Experience designing handheld products, robotics products, electro-mechanical mechanisms, and/or large equipment.
  • Prior finite element knowledge is a plus but not required.
  • Prior experience with OnShape CAD package is a plus, prior experience with SolidWorks CAD package is beneficial.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and verbal communications skills for work with physicists, engineers, vendors, client administrators, etc.
  • Some experience preferred in Molded plastic design, structural components, mechanisms.PI216536219
