lead the permitting and regulatory aspects of a project. The
position requires a confident individual capable of operating
autonomously and taking the initiative to coordinate detailed
permitting and regulatory deliverables with other engineering
disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedules.Major
Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of environmental engineering work for a global business unit, project, or staff group.
- Coordinate environmental engineering efforts with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, and construction teams.
- Provide technical assistance to environmental engineering personnel and interact with project functions, customers, and regulatory agencies to resolve complex regulatory issues and ensure compliance with industry codes and standards.
- Review and check work of others as assigned.
- Ensure projects comply with state and federal environmental permits and regulations, including Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements.
- Support engineering and project management in understanding and applying regulatory requirements based on permits and legislation.
- Develop execution strategies and planning for project permitting.
- Ensure that regulatory approvals are obtained to support
project execution.Education and Experience Requirements:Bachelor's
degree (or international equivalent) in chemical, environmental, or
mechanical engineering, with 8-10 years of relevant experience or
12-14 years of relevant work experience.Required Knowledge and
Skills:
- Familiarity with US environmental legislation and industry codes & standards affecting design, quality, or processes.
- Experience with regulatory requirements and approval processes with FERC, USACE, PHMSA, USEPA, and state environmental agencies, particularly in Texas and Louisiana, is advantageous.
- Relevant industry experience in Gas Processing, LNG, Refining, Petrochemical, or Energy Transition sectors (hydrogen production, CCS, methanol synthesis, SAF, etc.).
- Good knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, and good engineering practices, with the ability to apply them to design execution.
- Understanding of major project delivery, including design processes and typical project deliverables.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, both written and
