The New England Conservatory, an independent not-for-profit

Summary:Reporting to the Dean and Chief Artistic Officer, the
Assistant Director of Artistic Operations will be primarily
responsible for coordinating and supporting artistic projects and
programs in the College, including, but not limited to, guest
artist activities and residencies, special performance
opportunities and partnerships, and items related to event
production. The Assistant Director will support the Dean and Chief
Artistic Officer with ensuring that projects and tasks are
completed in a timely manner and at the highest level, and will
have the ability to take direction and to spearhead projects upon
instruction. A successful candidate for the Manager will have keen
attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a
collaborative spirit in working with various departments, including
Production and Venue Operations, Scheduling, Marketing and
Communications, Advancement and Engagement, and the Office of the
President, and will also serve as an integral liaison with
institutional partners. The ideal candidate for the position is
passionate about working with musicians, simultaneously supporting
their artistic goals and projects. The position requires working on
campus.Job DutiesServe as primary liaison with guest artists and/or
artist management and NEC faculty for activities and residencies,
ensuring an organized and successful experience for guest artists
and students across multiple departments;
Manage contracts and travel and lodging arrangements for guest
artists, in close coordination with performance department
administrators, and ensure timely payments of fees and
honoraria;
Maintain constant communication with the Advancement and Engagement
and Marketing & Communications departments in promoting guest
artist visits and special performances to NEC donors and concert
patrons;
Create and update regular reports and schedules of concerts, events
and guest artist visits, and distribute to administrative
departments, including Marketing and Communications and Advancement
and Engagement;
Coordinate season planning for the school year with the Dean and
Chief Artistic Officer and working closely with the Production and
Venue Operations staff;
Work closely with the Production and Venue Operations and the
Recording and Performance Technology Services staff in ensuring
that all logistics and production elements for major events and
concerts are executed at the highest levels;
Assist with artistic planning and coordination of special
institutional performance activities including donor and
partnership events, such as the annual scholarship gala;
Support the Dean and Chief Artistic Officer in scheduling and
coordinating meetings;
Supervise and train student workers serving as Artist Liaisons
Monitor budgets related to guest artist activities, including
travel and lodging expenses;
Maintain project management timelines and ensure that deadlines are
met;
Perform other duties as assigned.
RequirementsDedication to NEC's mission of educating exceptional
musicians who desire to have a positive impact in the world through
music
Bachelor of Music is required
Minimum of 3 years of experience in arts administration
Must be available to work in-person
Thorough knowledge of the professional field, repertoire, and arts
management firms a plus
Experience working with ArtsVision and/or MIDAS a plus
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
with various constituencies of the NEC community and institutional
partners
Exceptional judgment, discretion, and integrity when working with
students, faculty, staff, donors, and partners.
Successful project management experience and ability to problem
solve
Strong organizational skills with extreme attention to detail
Ability to work frequent nights/weekends for concerts/events
