Job Description:
Duties: Advise engineers on component cost, quality,
obsolescence, replacements and multiple source issues. Interface with
contract manufacturing procurement and collaborate with GCMs, Operations
and Design teams to provide guidance for the selection of
components. Responsible for the quality & reliability requirements for
passive optical subcomponents, passive electronics and semiconductor
parts procured by Acacia. Lead component failure investigation, root
causing and corresponding 8D corrective action implementation and
proactive supplier improvement initiatives. Chair regular meetings to
oversee status of multiple RMA/FA issues to satisfy customer requests.
Perform supplier on-site auditing as part of new supplier onboarding or
regular quality level maintenance audits. Evaluate the impact of product
change notifications (PCNs) from suppliers and coordinate the internal
review of the PCNs to resolutions. Chair regular meetings to discuss
all the pending PCNs and identify alternates for the Design team. Requirements: Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in
Electrical Engineering or a related field and three (3) years’
experience performing supplier quality and component engineering; or in
the alternative, a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in
Electrical Engineering or related field and five (5) years of experience
as indicated above. Also requires: demonstrated expertise (DE) qualifying
components (optical, semi) according to MSA, Telecordia, Belcore, IPC, MIL
and ATIS; DE ensuring suppliers have a thorough understanding of qualification requirements for passive optical (and
sub-optical) components including Isolators, WDM, and TOF-VOA; DE working
with Engineering teams to advise and define approved supply bases,
and monitor and address technical and quality concerns associated
with Optical, SMT and electronic component suppliers; DE
monitoring, measuring and championing root cause analysis (RCA) and
supplier corrective action for failed components through failure analysis
(FA); DE with technical and ‘hands-on’ semi production line
audits, including relevant standards to ensure reliable and quality production;
and DE performing electromagnetic simulations for packaging designs
using COMSOL and HFSS, and working with oscilloscopes, network
analyzers, temp cycle chambers, and soldering. Must be a certified
