A specialized opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse with experience in step-down nursing to work in a fast-paced Cardiac Medical Unit within a well-established hospital setting. This contract position is ideal for nurses with proficiency in telemetry and advanced cardiac care procedures seeking to utilize their expertise in a supportive and technology-forward environment. Responsibilities include: - Providing comprehensive nursing care on a 20-bed Cardiac Step-Down Unit focusing on cardiac management, med/surg telemetry, and stroke overflow patients - Managing complex patient care involving chest tubes, hi-flow oxygen therapy, BiPAP, thoracentesis, peritoneal dialysis (PD), tracheostomies, pacemakers, and cardiac catheterizations - Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure precise bedside shift rounds and efficient patient handoffs - Utilizing the Meditech Expanse electronic documentation system to maintain accurate patient records - Adhering to unit policies and maintaining professional standards with required certifications Desired Qualifications: - Current RN licensure with proven clinical experience in telemetry or step-down units - Certifications including ACLS and BLS required; ASLS preferred - Advanced skill set to perform thoracentesis, PD, tracheostomy care, and manage cardiac devices - Ability to work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week with every other weekend schedule or a 4-week rotating shift - Commitment to patient-centered care in a STEMI-certified hospital and Level II Trauma Center environment Location Overview: Situated in the vibrant city of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, this position offers the opportunity to work in a historic coastal community known for its rich cultural scene, excellent dining, and scenic waterfront views.
